  • 48 Hour Stomach Bug is No Joke

At one point yesterday, I just told God that He could take me now. I believe I made this request the second time I was sitting on the toilet, while throwing up in a bowl, covered in a cold sweat.

Now, 24 hours later, I’m as weak as a kitten, can barely keep toast down, and just can’t get rid of this headache. The worst part is that the thing I desire most, sleep, my body keeps refusing to give me.

As such, no real blog or review today. I lack the ability to focus, and just typing out this on my phone nearly broke me.

Here’s hoping that things return to normal tomorrow.

  • Sick Again (Unedited)

And I’m not talking about the Led Zeppelin song.

No, I’m talking about the fact that I got sick over the weekend. I had written on Friday morning that I had a nostril that was clogged up, but I wasn’t feeling sick. Then around 6pm that night, oh lord, did I start feeling sick. I was running a low fever and I just crawled into bed, and didn’t come out.

The one good thing about being sick this time around was that I got caught up on a bunch of tv shows that I had been putting off. The downside is pretty obvious; I felt like shit cuz I was sick.

Starting Sunday, I began to feel better. I was able to watch Tottenham and the Cowboys win their respective games that day, so I was in a pretty good mood.

But today was a working day, and I had to do my fatherly and husband duties, and it was pretty rough. I feel better than I did on Sunday, which means I am improving, but as of this moment, I just really want to go back to bed.

But no. I am on the couch writing while the kid is doing her homework. I need to walk the dog soon, and then I need to make dinner. Nope, I gotta keep going and around 9:30pm is when I will have a chance to sit and relax and quickly fall asleep on the couch.

I am a bit surprised that I got sick. I had a cold not too long ago, which meant that I hit my one cold a year quota. The kid hadn’t been sick, nor the wife, so I am a bit perplexed on how I was infected. See, I had a bit of time in bed on Saturday to think about how this could be the cold that kills, and I wanted to know how I acquired it; though they say you never hear the one with your name on it.

  • Getting Covid Tested

A strange thing happened to me late in the morning, yesterday; I felt like I had a cold. I felt fatigued, had a stuffy nose, and there was a scratchy feeling in the back of my throat. I hadn’t felt symptoms like this in over a year, and it really threw me off.

In the olden days, I would get at least one cold a year, and it usually happened after the kid got sick. The last time I remember feeling sick was around New Year’s 2019/20, and that was from a cold that was going around the office. Since Covid started, and the kid has been out of school, we have adopted a healthy regimen of hand washing, mask wearing, and keeping out distance. What this has produced is an epically long time since anyone has been sick in our home.

So, as this “cold” feeling kept increasing in me over the course of the day, I was a little dumbfounded how I could be sick, as no one else in our home is. Odds are that it is just a cold, but the reality is that I am the one in the family that runs all of the errands, and as such, if there is a chance that this could be Covid, I should find out as soon as possible, and not endanger anyone else in the neighborhood.

I had to go get tested.

Fortunately, there is a City run medical center in our neighborhood, and I headed over for a test. This would be my second time being at this location to get tested. I was pretty surprised that there wasn’t a line; just five of us waiting. Also, having been though before for a test, I was in and out pretty quick. Total time there, maybe fifteen minutes.

Now, I am in the limbo of waiting for the test result. I actually feel better this morning, but I know if it is Covid, that really doesn’t mean anything. I have to wait, and that does drive me crazy. I can’t run the family errands, and I just have to sit around. I am sure it is nothing, and I am acting out of caution, but I really don’t want to think about if I did get it.
