There really isn’t a story here, other than the song popped into my head over the weekend, and just has gone away. Not a part of the song, the whole thing keeps playing. Not sure why, and there are worse song that can get stuck in your head…
I take it back, I have one funny ancidote about this song. My kid confuses “Rocketman” and “Space Oddity.” She says one is sung by the guy who used to wear funny costumes, and the other is sung by the guy who is an alien.
It all started one night last week, when I was trying to explain to my kid what “Indie Rock” was and why me and her mom love it so much. For whatever very sad reason, we had never played anything by The Smiths for her. I thought “How Soon is Now” would have been the song my kid latched onto. Nope, “This Charming Man” was the big winner.
My reward for this evening of Music education was that this song has been stuck in my head all week. And I still don’t have a stitch to wear…

First of all there is nothing wrong with this song, other than it gets stuck in my head. Which I then have to walk around my apartment singing, until it gets stuck in my kid’s head. At which point she starts to hate me.
Other than that, the song’s soild.
When George Michael’s “Freedom!” came out, it sounded different from everything else that was out there. All these years later, it still sounds fresh, new and current.
