  • Earworm Wednesday: ‘Cause Here I Go Again

I know that technically, this is a “WINGS” song, but we all know this is all Paul McCartney. Not that it matters, but if I hear this song once it’s in my head for the rest of the week. I can’t prove it, but I bet Paul knew what he was doing when he wrote this.

  • Earworm Wednesday: Your Heart, I Will Not Break

Earworm Wednesday: Your Heart, I Will Not Break

No real shock or surprise here, the line that gets stuck in my head is “Don’t go breaking my heart.”

Every since I was little, the song did come out the year I was born, this has always been a cheesy, non-offensive bit of 70’s pop music. Harmless to the point of slight annoyance, it is rather charming thing to sing this to your significant other while in the midst of a playful argument. But as time has gone on, what this song really reminds me of now is how my mother would put the radio on in the morning when she’d wake me up for school. She’s bop around to top 40’s music as she made my breakfast and sack lunch for school. A meaningless at the time moment, that I bitter sweetly miss now.

  • Earworm Wednesday: Bird and Being It

First of all, I love The Bird and The Bee and if you don’t know them, you should know them.

Second, their album Recreational Love is amazing and you should listen to it.

Third, one of their best songs is on a tribute album to Hall and Oats called “Heard it on the Radio” and it’s Inara’s chorus that lodges into my brain, and won’t leave. This is one of those breakup songs that’s forward looking, and circumspect. Just a lovely piece of pop music.

  • Earworm Wednesday: Bowie

It’s Mary Hopkin’s singing those “Doo Doo Doo’s” that locks it into my head.

The song also reminds me of the time when I was driving around Northern California with my then five-year-old daughter, and she thought this was the coolest song, and made me play it over and over in the car.

  • Earworm Wednesday: My Kid Hates this Lumbering Song

I will give you bonus points if you remember “The Midnight Special” TV series.

It’s a kitschy song in my opinion, but the main riff is pretty cool, and does get stuck in my head easily. Also, that’s the reason my kid hates this song – her dad wanders around the house humming it, and it just drives her crazy.

But I know that I’m not the only one who loves that riff…
